7 Fun Facts About Babies Born in August

[ad_1]

And just like that, August is here! If you have a little one expected to join your family this month, the countdown to meeting them is on! I’m sure you are ready for them to come earthside, as you’ve suffered through the end of your pregnancy during the hot summer. August unofficially marks the end of the season here in the States, with college students beginning to move into the dorms and summer camps coming to an end. The nights will soon start to close the days earlier, with the long hours of summer sunshine wrapping up behind us. And we get to celebrate all of our special August arrivals! Here are some fun facts about babies born in August.

Fun Facts About August Babies

Happy Times

Babies who join us during the 8th month of the year are special. They are exposed to so much vitamin D during their time in the womb, so they tend to have a “sunny” disposition. Another reason they can be such happy little things is they were created during joyous times! If you’re due during the beginning of the month, you likely conceived at the beginning of the holiday season amongst the plans and preps for upcoming Thanksgiving. If you are due toward the end of the 31 days, your baby was conceived around the beginning of December, which we all know is full of the hustle and bustle and togetherness! Between the close-knit feeling of Hanukkah and the joyous anticipation of Christmas and an impending fresh start in the new year, this season brings bliss . . . and an August baby!

The Lion or The Maiden

Leo Zodiac Sign

If your little one arrives any time before the 22nd of the month, they will be fierce little lions. They’ll fall under the zodiac sign Leo, which is represented by the brave animal. It is a fire sign – ruled by the sun – and is bound to be as confident and bright as you’d assume! Your little Leo is likely to be loyal and protective, which are helpful traits for them on the playground (and in the real world). The lion isn’t only tough, though . . . they are also playful and loving, often being chosen for playdates and social gatherings. You’re bound to have a fun ride with your August Leo.

Virgo Zodiac Sign

If your babe makes their appearance after Leo season ends, they will be considered a Virgo. Virgo children are the helpers, great with paying attention to detail and getting the task done. If you’re worried about teaching them to clean up, you may not have to worry as much about your maiden sign! They naturally like to keep order but can be finicky and hold a high standard, so keeping balance in the home is important for your new little late August bundle!

Floral Fun

August’s birth flowers make for a gorgeous garden! August is represented by the Gladiolus and the Poppy. Both of these are bright and cheerful as they grow, much like how it will be watching your new summer baby! The Gladiolus comes in a delicious range of purple to light pink colors, representing a calm demeanor, integrity, and infatuation. They are the perfect flower to fit in anywhere in a garden, making themselves right at home.

Poppies also symbolize this birth month. This flower is actually the perfect choice of bouquet to celebrate a new baby, as the yellow poppy represents wishes of wealth and success! The red ones signify happiness, and white poppies are for consolation. Poppy would also be a wonderful name for a girl born in August, special and symbolic to carry with them!

A Trio of Stability

Peridot gems

The 8th month of the year is celebrated with three special gems: the Peridot, Sardonyx, and the Spinel. The only other months that share three stones are June and December. Peridot is a gorgeous lime green mineral that is considered the traditional birthstone for August. Its origin is unclear, but it is associated with good fortune! Nothing is more perfect to represent how fortunate you are to have your new baby!

Sardonyx shot from three points of view isolated on white background.

The Sardonyx is a more modern stone representation for the month, appearing like waves of sand and minerals causing a striping pattern. These stones are special, symbolizing the mixing of people and partnerships in their complex layers and promoting lasting happiness together!

The lesser-known, but just as exceptional, stone is the Spinel. Spinel stones are often confused for a ruby, with their fiery color and strength. They represent devotion and dedication. All three stones sound like a striking mix for a strong family unit!

Ready (or not)!

An interesting thing to consider as a new parent to an August baby is their school-age! I know we are so consumed with the days (or is it night? I can’t tell! When did I last sleep?) of having a newborn that it may be impossible to look that far ahead. But August kids will either be the oldest or youngest in their graduating class, depending on their readiness for school! Because of how most districts are set up, your little one will be right on the cut-off. They will either miss the deadline and start the following year, making them the oldest in their class, or they will scoot right in and be one of the youngest. This can be a tough choice for parents, but it all depends on your individual child and their abilities! Whatever choice you make is the best for your family.

Notable Names

Your new baby has the most prominent name in your house, but they may share a birthday with a famous household name!
