25 Days of Christmas Books and Movies

Christmas has always been a magical time of year for me. When I was a child, my parents didn’t have much money for gifts, so they placed more significance on family traditions. Those traditions are what I remember most about Christmas as a child. They are some of my most precious memories.

When I became a mother, I also wanted to create magical Christmas memories for my kids. Before my first baby was even a year old, I was planning how to make this holiday season special for our little family. Many of the traditions that my parents began I have carried over into my own family traditions. But there were others that I decided to start with my children. One of those traditions was reading a Christmas book every night of December leading up until Christmas.

When my daughter was just a baby, I began collecting beautiful, funny, and classic Christmas stories that I would store in a basket near the tree. Each night, I have my kids choose one of the books from the basket and we snuggle in tight for a read-aloud. This tradition has become one of our favorites. And now that my kids are older, we’ve added watching Christmas movies to our favorite things to do this season. This tradition is fun, engaging, and meaningful for all of us.
